The primary method of care at Eastern Oklahoma Chiropractic is the adjustment. The chiropractic adjustment is a gentle procedure to free a vertebral joint that is stuck or misaligned so that proper motion and position is restored, thereby arresting, preventing and often reversing spinal degeneration or arthritis. This is important because a joint that has lost its function causes the body to compensate by increasing movement in other areas of the body. This incorrect movement may lead to degeneration in those joints as well as pain due to increased work load. These restricted joints are located by Dr. Ring by palpating the spine in static and motion positions, as well as taking diagnostic x-rays in the area of interest. Once an examination is completed and the restricted joints are located, Dr. Ring will treat the area with a gentle adjustment of the joint to increase movement and restore function. Also, and at the same time, proper motion and position of the vertebrae allow the nerves to carry their impulses to their intended end organ, muscle, tissue with less interference. A better functioning spine with less interference to the nervous system allows the body to do more of what it was designed and programmed to do which is to heal and be healthy!

Active Release Technique (ART)
Active Release Technique is a soft tissue manual therapy designed to improve the function of soft tissues throughout the body by eliminating the body of scar tissue from old injuries. If a muscle becomes overworked or injured, the surrounding tissue may become fibrotic and painful due to a process of reduced oxygen, inflammation and decreased vascular circulation. The formation of scar tissue is inevitable, but its lasting impacts are not. ART Providers use manual tension along with specific patient motion to reduce adhesions and break up scar tissue.
Intersegmental Traction and Auricular Therapy
Eastern Oklahoma Chiropractic utilizes intersegmental traction and auricular therapy for nearly all of their patients during their visits. These services are great to help speed the recovery and aids in the healing process while reducing pain and discomfort in the area. Intersegmental traction is great to exercise the spine and provide relief while hitting many acupressure points along the spine that promote healing and help with the symptoms. It provides a gentle yet effective traction for the spine that increases range of motion while easing pain and discomfort. Auricular therapy is typically given following the adjustment. It has been known for many years that there are several acupuncture points in the ear alone that are effective at speeding patient recovery while helping to decrease symptoms. Auricular therapy is a form of needle-less acupuncture that provides a small and painless electrical impulse into those specific points on the ear. The combination of these two services and the chiropractic adjustment are often just what the patient needs to heal and feel great.
Eastern Oklahoma Chiropractic takes x-rays at the clinic. This is vital because it gives the chiropractor another piece of the puzzle in order to come to an accurate diagnosis of your problem. X-Rays are taken on a case-by-case basis, taking into account all the history, symptoms, and personal factors the patient presents. The combination of patient history, personal factors, examination findings and x-ray findings (if necessary) are tools we use to diagnose your problem and design the proper plan of care. Dr. Ring says, “X-Rays are important because to not know is to guess, and I will never guess about your health.”
